ILORIN LEGACY transforms the historic Emir's Palace grounds into a living documentary stage, where traditional storytellers, musicians, and artisans perform while being captured through multi-camera live production. The project creates an immersive experience that bridges generations by presenting Ilorin's rich cultural tapestry through contemporary production techniques, making heritage accessible to digital audiences while preserving authenticity. This project uniquely positions Ilorin's cultural narrative at the intersection of tradition and technology, using live-streaming to create both an immediate event experience and lasting digital archive. By incorporating interactive elements where online viewers can ask questions of cultural custodians in real-time, we create a participatory model for cultural preservation that can be replicated across Nigeria's historic cities. The production will highlight specific Ilorin traditions like the Durbar festival preparations, traditional dyeing techniques at the Oja Oba market, and the unique blend of Islamic and Yoruba architectural elements throughout the city.
