Launch at the end of Week 3
This project is a photographic love letter to the iconic New York bodega, transforming these everyday corner stores into stages for urban drama. We'll spend two weeks exploring the bodegas of Alphabet City and the Lower East Side, documenting their unique characters, late-night patrons, and the surreal beauty of their fluorescent and neon lighting. The result will be a striking series of 8-10 large-format photographs that blend street photography with a painterly, cinematic aesthetic. Beyond simple documentation, this project explores themes of community, urban life, and the uncanny beauty of artificial light. Each bodega is a microcosm of the city's diversity, and we'll capture the candid interactions, the colorful product packaging, and the quiet moments that define these 24-hour havens. The final photos will be color-graded to enhance the neon glow, creating images that feel both documentary and dreamlike. This project is designed to be fully achievable by our small team, with a clear focus on location scouting, photography, and post-production. The final series will be a stunning addition to any portfolio, showcasing technical skill, artistic vision, and a deep connection to New York City's unique cultural landscape.
