Launch event at a station
This project aims to breathe new life into forgotten subway stations across New York City by creating large-scale, site-specific murals that reflect the unique cultural fabric of each neighborhood. The concept is to use dynamic, layered imagery blending graffiti aesthetics with digital illustration, incorporating neon colors to echo the city's iconic nightlife. Each mural will tell a visual story—from the history of the Lower East Side to the vibrant energy of Jackson Heights—creating a living gallery for daily commuters and tourists alike. What makes this project unique is its fusion of traditional mural techniques with augmented reality (AR) elements: viewers can scan a QR code near each mural to unlock an animated, interactive digital overlay that expands the artwork. The team will work with local historians and community groups to ensure authentic representation, making the murals not just art but a celebration of New York's ever-evolving identity. The final deliverables include high-resolution documentation of the murals, a short documentary film capturing the creative process, and a digital guide with AR activations. This portfolio-worthy project will position the team at the forefront of public art innovation, blending analog and digital storytelling.
