Project Brief

This project celebrates the dying art of Ilorin's pottery, capturing the hands that mold earth into heritage. We'll follow a master potter in the historic Iponri neighborhood, weaving their story with the rhythms of the city — from the clatter of Oja Oba market to the serene banks of River Asa. The film juxtaposes gritty close-ups of clay work with sweeping drone shots of Ilorin's iconic landmarks, like the Emir's Palace and the ancient city walls. Unique to this project is the fusion of traditional Yoruba oral poetry (ewi) with a contemporary ambient score, creating a sensory bridge between generations. The editor's role is pivotal: to stitch together raw footage into a poetic, slow-burn narrative that feels both ancestral and urgent. This is not just a documentary — it's a visual love letter to Ilorin's resilience and creativity.
