This project will weave together two parallel stories: a day in the life of a young fishmonger at Hull's historic Albert Dock, and a day in the life of a London-based street-food vendor at Borough Market. Through voiceover and observational footage, the film explores themes of community, tradition, and change in post-industrial and globalised cities. The unique angle is the juxtaposition of Hull’s quiet, maritime pace with London’s relentless energy. We’ll use a mix of 16mm-inspired colour grading and modern drone shots to capture the textures of both cities. The final piece will be a 5-8 minute portfolio film suited for festivals and social media. This project leverages the growing trend of hyper-local storytelling and the revival of essay films on platforms like Vimeo and YouTube. It’s perfect for a director and editor passionate about visual storytelling and sound design, plus a host/MC who can serve as a voiceover or on-screen narrator.
