Project Brief

This project reimagines the 'city switch' concept by creating a live, interactive event that bridges London and Hull. We will produce a 2-day pop-up experience in each city, connected via live stream and collaborative challenges. Day 1 in Hull will feature a 'Northern Takeover' of a historic venue like the Hull Truck Theatre or a repurposed warehouse in the Fruit Market district. Day 2 will mirror this in London, perhaps at a converted industrial space in Hackney Wick or a rooftop in Shoreditch. The events will be interlinked: tasks set in Hull must be completed by the London team in real-time (and vice versa), with audiences voting on outcomes via social media. The result is a high-energy, chaotic, and deeply human commentary on regional identity and collaboration. The creative vision is a 'digital-physical hybrid' that feels like a live game show meets a gritty documentary. We will use a mix of live MCs, roving content creators, and behind-the-scenes editors to craft a narrative of two cities competing and cooperating. The Hull event will lean into industrial, raw aesthetics—graffiti, concrete, local fish-and-chip suppers—while the London event will embrace neon, fast-paced street style, and multiculturalism. The final output will be a 15-minute documentary cut, a series of short-form social clips, and a live-streamed archive. What makes this unique is its real-time, collaborative nature. It’s not a one-way broadcast; the teams in each city must communicate, adapt, and perform for a live audience. This tests event planning, social media management, hosting, and content creation skills in a high-pressure, portfolio-worthy scenario.
