The 6 Train is a site-specific, immersive performance that takes place on the Lexington Avenue Line, specifically the 6 train, between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Pelham Bay Park. The piece is a series of short, interconnected vignettes—each performed by a small ensemble of actors, dancers, and musicians—that occur in different cars and stations along the route. The narrative follows a loose thread of human connection in the city, with characters that reflect the diversity of New Yorkers. The performance is designed to be experienced by unsuspecting commuters as well as an audience who follows the journey. The unique aspect is that it uses the train itself as the stage, with the rhythm of the ride, the announcements, and the ever-changing passengers as part of the show. It's guerrilla theatre meets flash mob, but with a coherent artistic vision. The project is achievable in 2-4 weeks with a small team, and it's portfolio-worthy because it captures the essence of New York: movement, diversity, and surprise.
