This project blends site-specific sound design with scripted drama, creating an immersive audio experience that transforms Bewdley's riverside into a stage. The story follows a young sound designer who, after inheriting a cassette recorder from her late grandfather, returns to Bewdley to capture the sounds of the town. As she records the river, the docks, and the woods, she begins to hear whispers—voices of people lost in the floods of 1947. The narrative unfolds through a series of intimate audio vignettes, each tied to a real location, culminating in a powerful sonic finale at the Bewdley Bridge. What makes this unique is its use of binaural recording and 3D audio, transporting listeners to the heart of Bewdley. The project leverages the current trend of immersive podcasts and audio-led storytelling, offering a fresh take on local heritage. It requires only a small team—a lead actor, a sound designer, a writer, and a producer—and can be completed within a month, making it an ideal portfolio piece for the available talent. The final product will be a polished, 20-minute audio drama available on major podcast platforms, accompanied by a 'walking tour' map for listeners to experience the story in situ.
