Thames Tides is a multi-disciplinary visual art project that explores the symbiotic relationship between London and the River Thames. Over four weeks, a small team of creatives will document the river's shifting tides, from dawn to dusk, at various iconic and hidden locations along its banks. The project combines still photography, time-lapse videography, and audio recordings to create an immersive portrait of the river as a living, breathing entity that mirrors the city's own pulse. The final output will be a series of large-scale prints and a short experimental film, designed for gallery exhibition and online distribution. The creative vision is to capture the poetic interplay of light, water, and urban architecture. By focusing on the tidal changes, we highlight themes of impermanence, renewal, and the constant flow of life in the city. The project leverages current trends in slow art, environmental awareness, and immersive storytelling. It is unique because it treats the Thames not just as a backdrop but as a central character, revealing its moods and secrets through a macro and micro lens. We will collaborate with local historians and river workers to uncover lesser-known stories, adding depth to the visual narrative. The project is achievable within 3 weeks, with a small crew of 4-5 people, and promises a portfolio-worthy outcome that is both artistically compelling and deeply rooted in London's identity.
